How do you get from central Athens to the entrance?

You can reach the Acropolis by metro or bus. The site address is 10558 Athens, and it is a 12-minute walk from Acropolis Metro station. Line 2 serves Acropolis station, while Lines 1 and 3 serve Monastiraki station; bus line 230 stops at the Acropolis bus stop.
For an Acropolis visit, consider Hermes Hotel as a central Athens base. Monastiraki station is about a seven-minute walk from the hotel.
Allow time to walk between the metro stations and the Acropolis entrance when planning a wider route through central Athens.
Syntagma and Monastiraki are connected by Lines 3 and 1 respectively, and Athens Metro links these central stations.

Access, terrain and visitor facilities
The Acropolis stands on a rocky hill 156 metres above sea level, so expect a site with uneven stone paths and changes in level. An elevator reaches the plateau north of the Erechtheion. From there, visitors can follow a route toward the Propylaea or a route between the Parthenon and the Erechtheion.
The North Slope is wheelchair accessible through a specially designed entrance-exit north of the main entrance on the West Slope; an attendant is advisable. The South Slope is wheelchair accessible via the main entrance at the junction of Dionysiou Areopagitou and Thrasyllou streets, and an attendant is also advisable there.
What to see on the Acropolis
The Parthenon and the western slope are among the features identified for the archaeological site. The hill has been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BC, and by the 8th century BC it had become exclusively sacred, with the cult of Athena Polias.
The site also has a Hellenic Heritage museum shop. You can plan your route around the plateau’s landmarks, including the Parthenon and Erechtheion, while keeping the terrain and your entry time in mind.
